Bereavement support staff from Haven of Schenectady will present workshops in May on the subject of grief and grieving, and the particular impact sudden loss may have on young people and the community at large.

When a Community Grieves, scheduled for Wednesday, May 1, 7 to 8:30 p.m., will offer information and some practical suggestions to help adults, parents, teachers, neighbors help themselves and the young people in their lives better cope with sudden death and loss.  This program will include ways in which adolescent grief differs from that of adults, and is for adults only.

Losing Someone Young is a workshop for adolescents in middle and high school.  It is designed specifically to help young people understand and recognize the many ways in which loss affects their lives now and in years to come.  This workshop is scheduled for Thursday, May 2, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Time for discussion and/or questions will be allotted at the end of each workshop.  The workshops are free and open to the public.

Both workshops will take place at the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library, 475 Moe Road, Clifton Park.  For more information, or to make a reservation, please contact the library at  518.371.8622 or Haven at 518.370.1666 or email info@havenofschdy.org.
