Subway celebrated its grand reopening at 1478 State Street, Schenectady with a ribbon cutting hosted by the Chamber of Schenectady County on April 10, 2013. The ribbon cutting was sponsored by McNamee, Lochner Titus & Williams, PC.

Co-Owner Mitch Gelman started his journey 28 years ago as a tax accountant and worked 20 years for Avis Rent-A-Car. During that time, Mitch’s son Adam came up with the idea of owning and renting investment properties. The business had grown to house more than 150 tenants, so Mitch and Adam were fortunate enough to leverage the investment properties and began to purchase Subway locations. As they continue to increase revenues at each of their stores, they plan to continue opening additional Subways and Taco Del Mar Restaurants in the surrounding area.

The very first Taco Del Mar, which is a Mexican Restaurant featuring Baja beach-style mondo burritos and fish tacos, will open in the next several weeks. Not only is this be the first in Schenectady County after Mitch’s relocation from Albany, but it is also the first in New York State.

“Subway is a well-known brand worldwide, but each and every Subway is individually owned and operated,” said Mitch. Their employees strive to give their customers the best personal experience they can possibly have in making their meal. Each sandwich and or salad is prepared with the same precision and care as if that employee were going to eat it him- or herself.

Adam and Mitch saw a great investment opportunity in Schenectady County and could not pass it up.

Subway is open Monday through Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
